Bengaluru’s Cubbon Park Police have filed a complaint against the eatery One8 Commune, owned by former India captain Virat Kohli. This is due to claims that the eatery did not have a designated smoking area.
The restaurant has been charged by police with violating several sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), which governs smoking in public areas. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike issued a notice in December for failing to obtain a fire safety No Objection Certificate, and a FIR was filed last June for operating outside of permissible hours, so this is not the first time Virat Kohli restaurant has had issues.
After being caught sledging young Musheer Khan during the Indian Premier League (IPL) Qualifier 1 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), Kohli recently came under fire from some cricket fans. Virat Kohli told Musheer, who entered the game as PBKS’s Impact Player, that he had just been pouring drinks to his older colleagues.
For someone making his IPL debut, some fans thought Kohli’s sledging was excessively harsh. Others, on the other hand, backed the veteran, arguing that Musheer was merely getting a preview of what players preparing to perform on the big stage may expect.
After the game, Virat Kohli did give his bat to Musheer, though. After chasing down a goal of 102 runs in 10 overs, RCB won the match by eight wickets.
The IPL 2025 performance of Virat Kohli
In the IPL 2025, Kohli has been in incredible form. In 14 innings, the 36-year-old has amassed 614 runs with a strike rate of 146.54 and an average of 55.82. With eight half-centuries under his belt, he has hammered eight of them this season.
RCB will play PBKS once more in the final. On Tuesday, June 3, this match will be played in Ahmedabad’s massive Narendra Modi Stadium. Neither team has ever taken home the prized IPL championship. As the cricket community anticipates the thrilling spectacle, history is about to be made on Tuesday.
