Tushar Deshpande was selected for the five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Zimbabwe following a couple of successful seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
He had to wait for an opportunity, which came in the fourth game of the current series, since he was unable to establish himself in the lineup with Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, and Mukesh Kumar present. Avesh took a break to handle his workload, and he took over for him.
Deshpande spoke candidly after being awarded the cap, expressing his happiness at being able to play international cricket for India. The 29-year-old continued by saying that he felt playing for the Chennai Super Kings will benefit him in his career and help him establish himself internationally. Considering that the stadium in Harare was packed, the Mumbai native also spoke about the amazing atmosphere there.
Glad to be here, too. Everything dates back to when I was a young child and aspired to play for my nation. I’m so proud to be here sporting the blue. I value it greatly. This place has a very wonderful feel. Being an IPL player for CSK aided me. I’ll definitely benefit from that experience in the internationals. Since I began as a batsman, it comes naturally to me. I’ve been working on it and trying to improve it. In general, there is a relaxed vibe within the team, Deshpande stated prior to Saturday’s game.

Sikandar Raza, who left the game after scoring 46 runs off of 28 balls, was removed by him during the contest. Given that Avesh and Mukesh are expected to be in the stands for the series’ last game, Deshpande’s three overs and thirty runs conceded could potentially put his spot in jeopardy. If Deshpande is fortunate enough to be given a chance, he will need to perform better in order to guarantee his place for the forthcoming series against Sri Lanka, which starts later this month.
