Virat Kohli disclosed that he was “stunned” by the chats he had with former South African wicketkeeper-batter Mark Boucher during his early years in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
For the first three IPL seasons, Mark Boucher was a member of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team. Kohli recollected his encounters with the Eastern Cape native at that period.
“Boucher had the most influence on me of all the players I played with in the beginning. He was able to identify my potential limitations. Without requesting anything from him, this is what I must do if I want to advance. “You would do a disservice to yourself when I come to commentate in India in three or four years and I do not see you playing for India,” he informed me. In an interview for the next installment of the RCB Podcast, a trailer for which was posted on the team’s official ‘X’ handle, Virat Kohli stated, “He really shocked me with the conversations he had with me.”
Being regarded as one of the best batters in history, Virat Kohli fulfilled Boucher’s expectations.
The former captain of India is vying for the Orange Cap this season after winning it in the IPL last year. In 10 innings, he has scored 443 runs at an average of 63.29.
Virat Kohli, who is representing RCB in his 18th IPL season, also gave an explanation of his decision to stick with the team. He claimed that there is no cutlery can compare to the love he has received from his supporters.
“The love that I have received from the fans, I do not think any silverware or any trophy can come close to that,” he stated.
In order to allow the young Indian cricket players adequate time to get ready for major tournaments like the World Cup, Virat Kohli also stated that he quit from T20I cricket last year.
“I don’t believe that anything has changed for me. The decision (to quit T20Is) was made solely with the understanding that there is a new group of players who are more than ready and that they require time. They require a two-year cycle to develop, cope with pressure, play in various locations across the world, and accumulate enough games so that they feel prepared for the World Cup,” he said.
With seven victories from ten games, Rajat Patidar’s RCB is having an incredible season. On the points table, they are ranked second, just behind the Mumbai Indians.
