From Sachin Tendulkar to MS Dhoni, the Indian team has over the years had a number of significant players on the team who serve as role models for the younger players. No player, though, appears to have had as big of an impact on the younger generation as 34-year-old Virat Kohli.
Through his outstanding achievements for both India and the Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli has gained a lot of recognition and admirers throughout the years. Yashasvi Jaiswal, 21, is one of many young rising talents who looks up to Kohli and aspires to play cricket like him.
Yashasvi Jaiswal came up to express how proud he felt to play alongside Virat Kohli shortly after making his highly anticipated debut for India and striking a fantastic century in the first Test. The 34-year-old, he added, has a lot to teach us, and he continually tries to pick his brain.
“Watching him bat is incredible. What else can I say? He is legendary. To play with him is a blessing. In both cricket and life in general, there are many lessons to be learned from him. I try to read his thinking,” Jaiswal said to the media during the first day of the second Test.
Everyone has their own preferred method of explanation. They’re all seasoned. I attentively consider every piece of advice they offer. There are not many thoughts behind what they are saying. It’s amazing how easy it is to obtain knowledge and other tiny things, he continued.

Jaiswal also discussed his dismissal in the second Test and expressed his opinion that it is never easy to get dismissed. The 21-year-old was sent back to the pavilion by Jason Holder after scoring 57 runs off 74 pitches in the first innings.
Every time I bat, I think about how long I can bat and of course, it’s disappointing when I get outI just have to keep learning. I continually want to do well for the team and use the same approach.
Going out there and playing for your country is a pleasure, Jaiswal remarked.
