Piyush Chawla responded to Prithvi Shaw on retiring, "I am playing with you, and after playing with your son, I will retire"

At the age of 35, veteran spinner Piyush Chawla is still competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), proving that a person’s love for a sport knows no age restrictions.

The two-time World Cup champion Chawla recently addressed rumours that he was retiring. Regarding his intention to hang up his boots, Chawla related a fascinating anecdote about himself and the young cricket player Prithvi Shaw.

“Prithvi Shaw told me a long back that ‘PC bhai bas karo yaar ab’. “I played with Sachin paaji and I’m playing with his son now,” I added. “I am playing with you, and I will retire after playing with your son,” Chawla declared during Shubhankar Mishra’s program.

You guys have been putting a question mark on his future: Mohammed Shami

Throughout his career, Chawla has played alongside cricket superstar Sachin Tendulkar and is currently partnered with the next generation of talent. He made his debut for India in 2006. He was a member of the winning teams that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, both captained by the legendary MS Dhoni.

Piyush Chawla has not yet formally announced his retirement, but Ms Dhoni said goodbye to international cricket in 2020.

Surprisingly, Chawla responded, “Mahi bhai,” to the question of who between him and Dhoni might retire first. Another prominent cricket player, Mohammed Shami, revealed Dhoni’s retirement philosophy.

“His future has been cast in doubt by you (the media). When should a player retire? is a question he asked Mahi bhai during their talk, the man himself replies, “Dekha Jayega” (let’s see). Shami has earlier commented on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, “First when you yourself get bored and second, Jab lage ki laat padne wali hai (when you realise that you would be kicked out of the team).”
