Piyush Chawla, a former Indian cricket player, made history by being the first Indian player to be featured in the Bangladesh Premier League auction.
An Indian cricket player has never before been included in the BPL’s auction pool. The BPL now has more options thanks to Piyush Chawla involvement. Notably, Indian cricket players have not yet been permitted to participate in any franchise leagues outside of India by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Cricket players under the BCCI’s contract have never been given permission by the Indian Administrative Board to play for teams abroad.
Even though Piyush Chawla has already retired from Indian cricket, she might be the catalyst for reform.
In the current Abu Dhabi T10 tournament, which is being played in the United Arab Emirates, Chawla is a member of the Ajman Titans. In six games, he has taken seven wickets at an economy rate of 12.00.
Speaking of the main event, Noakhali Express has been added as the new franchise, and five teams will compete instead of the seven that did so in the previous season. The Express will join the Chattogram Royals, Dhaka Capitals, Sylhet Titans, Rangpur Riders, and Rajshahi Warriors.
After a 12-year break, the players’ auction will return to the BPL. The new auction date of November 30 has been confirmed by the tournament’s governing council. There were auctions throughout the tournament’s first two incarnations in 2012 and 2013. Nevertheless, a players’ draft structure was used in the nine subsequent tournaments.
Regarding the auction mechanism, both domestic and foreign participants will be divided into distinct groups with predetermined starting bids and bidding increments. The top category for players from abroad, like as Chawla, will start at USD 35,000. USD 5,000 increments will be made.
