'It should be good for the remainder of the Test'- Pitch curator reflects on next Adelaide clash pitch

The Indian team will now travel to Adelaide for the second Test after securing a resounding victory in the first Test of the BGT 2024–25. In a pink-ball Test match, Rohit Sharma‘s team will play Australia in the second Test starting on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval.

There has been a probability that rain will fall on the first day of the match as the second Test draws near.

In addition, Damian Hough, the Adelaide Oval’s pitch curator, recently spoke out and shared his thoughts about the pitch.

Hough considered his expectations for the pitch’s durability for the five days of the match. He discussed different timelines and expressed optimism that Saturday’s storm will be mild.

It appears that there may be thunderstorms on Friday. We anticipate pulling blankets on Friday, though I’m not sure exactly when those storms will arrive. Hough told cricket.com.au, “Hopefully it clears out on Saturday morning, then it should be good for the remainder of the Test.”

Notably, since 2015, Australia has participated in 12 of the 23 pink-ball Test matches. They have won 11 of the 12 games that they have played. In contrast, the Indian squad has participated in four pink-ball Test matches and has won three of them.

Damian Hough went into further detail regarding the pitch, including the grass’s length. Interestingly, the grass will be the same length as it was during the South Australia vs. Western Australia Sheffield Shield match, where the pacers performed admirably.

“We’re attempting to reproduce the shield and the test preparation in shield games, whether it’s a pink or red ball. remarkably comparable setups. The Shield pitch demonstrated that you could see through some nighttime cricket if you didn’t receive a fresh ball under the lights and you had a few set hitters in,” Hough added.
