The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has gotten off to a wild start as Australia, the initial favourite, lost the first series in Perth by a crushing 295 runs. Steve Smith, an Australian middle-order batsman, highlighted that one of the most important factors when facing the pink ball is concentration.
When the two teams play each other in a pink-ball match in Adelaide starting on December 6, they will now have an uphill battle against a confident Indian team.
Depending on the situation and where you bat, it can be difficult at different times of day or night. Therefore, you must be really switched on. Sometimes, the pink ball can be a little erratic.
In an exclusive interview with Star Sports, Steve Smith said, “You have to be really focused.”
In contrast, Pat Cummins, the skipper, responded in a very casual and generic manner.
The fundamentals, in my opinion, never truly change. Occasionally, as the ball ages and becomes softer, the game may proceed at varying speeds. “But aside from that, it’s a test for you,” Cummins said.
The drop-in wicket seems to work well for me: Travis Head
In the first game, Travis Head, Australia’s top scorer, went into great detail about the subject. He said the drop-in wicket fit his style of play and he was looking forward to what he described as a “exciting week” of cricket.
“Batting on this wicket might be difficult. You must obviously score in a variety of ways to get the drop-in wicket. I believe it fits me. There, of course, I bat a lot. It’s been pleasant to have some runs there in the past two years, and this year we’re hoping to repeat that. I always had a pleasant week. It is laid back. I’m in bed by myself. I have a large family and circle of friends.
It’s good fuel for the week, and many of my friends come to watch. I’ll be anticipating that, then. They’re quite good in day-night Test matches, in my opinion, this summer. Wonderful ambiance. The ball is constantly in motion. Evidently, the wickets are doing fairly well. Thus, it makes for a thrilling week,” Head continued.
Both teams are eager to move forward and perform better at the Adelaide Oval. The hosts will benefit from their prior performance at the same location in 2020, when they easily defeated India by eight wickets after demolishing them for their lowest Test score of 36.
