Piloo Reporter, a former international umpire who had reached the age of 84, passed away on September 3. The veteran enjoyed a distinguished career as an official during their whole working life. During his career, which spanned 28 years, he participated in 14 tests and 22 one-day internationals.

After being approached by a former Pakistan captain named Imran Khan to officiate a game between Pakistan and the West Indies in 1986, an Indian umpire named Piloo Reporter and another Indian umpire named V Ramaswamy held the distinction of being the first pair of neutral umpires to preside in a match since 1912.

At the World Cup in 1992, he also worked as an umpire. The reporter, who is now considered a legend in his industry, began his career as an umpire in the Ranji Trophy before finally moving on to officiate international matches.
