'Excited to get back on the field'- Phoebe Litchfield green signals on featuring vs Sri Lanka

Australia Women, the six-time T20 World Cup champions, are the defending champions going into the ninth tournament. Australia is grouped with New Zealand, India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan in Group A. They faced England and the West Indies in two warm-up matches, and Phoebe Litchfield‘s name was the only one absent from the starting eleven.

One of the Australian team’s most important players, Litchfield missed the warm-up matches because of groin pain. On October 5, Australia will take on Sri Lanka in the tournament’s opening match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Phoebe Litchfield has stated that, despite earlier speculation to the contrary, she will play against Sri Lanka in order to bolster the team’s strength.

“Missing the practice games has been difficult, but I feel fine today. Resuming my position on the pitch and helping the squad excites me. For me, it’s about being there and figuring out the circumstances as soon as possible. Sharjah will present a test, but we are prepared for it, Litchfield stated, as cited by News18.

A type of wicket that requires some time to adjust to: Nigar Sultana

In the tournament’s opening games, the Sharjah pitch displayed spinning characteristics and a slow speed. It is noteworthy that Australia was unable to practise prior to their first match because they had never played a match at the location. In the tournament’s opening match, Bangladesh defeated Scotland by 119 runs when they batted first.

Shathi and Mostary were able to settle into a kind of wicket where that’s necessary. We ran a lot of twos in the really warm weather. After the game, Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana stated, “Hopefully the wicket stays like this and our spinners will come into play.”
