Phoebe Litchfield, an Australian batter who is presently playing for the Gujarat Giants (GG) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2025), talked candidly about her own aspirations for the competition and how she intends to develop as a player via this five-team competition.
In her second match of the season, Phoebe Litchfield showed off her skill under duress against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the reigning champions.
She countered Sneh Rana‘s danger with a string of reverse sweeps. Despite being dumped by Richa Ghosh on 11, Phoebe Litchfield maintained her aggressive style and made it easy for her squad to pursue the target. With 21 balls remaining, she 30* off 23 balls and Ashleigh Gardner’s 58 completed GG’s six-wicket victory. The Australian talked about how the WPL allowed her to develop her skills and learn new things.
“I’ve learned a ton on this site. It’s a fantastic challenge and one of the greatest competitions in the world, with top players. I want to maintain it now that I have my opportunity in the middle order. There is a fair amount of competition since Laura Wolvaardt continues to knock on the door with some incredible strokes in the nets. However, I’m grateful for this chance. The Jio Hotstar cited Litchfield as saying, “With a World Cup coming up in a few months.”
The Gujarat Giants are currently ranked fifth in the standings.
Phoebe Litchfield views the WPL as a learning opportunity with greater objectives than merely showing off her skills. She is attempting to learn as much as she can because the Women’s World Cup will be held in India in a few months. The Giants are currently in fifth place with two wins and three losses due to their inconsistent play thus far. The team will meet UP Warriorz Women on March 3 in Lucknow in their upcoming match.
“Playing cricket in India is the greatest thing ever, so I’m taking in all the knowledge and tips I can while having fun! It was a lot of fun tonight,” Phoebe Litchfield said.
