Prior to the Zimbabwe Tests, Phil Simmons, the coach of Bangladesh, stated, "I want to play Tests on proper wickets."

As they get ready to play Zimbabwe at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium starting on April 20, Bangladesh’s head coach Phil Simmons said the team wants to play Test cricket on good wickets rather than spin-friendly conditions. With Mushfiqur Rahim as the sole seasoned player currently playing Test cricket, the forthcoming Test series will usher in a new era for the Bangladeshi cricket squad.

According to Phil Simmons, their objective is to get the appropriate wickets ready to lead the Test team in the correct path. He highlighted Mushfiqur’s professionalism and excellent work ethic while praising both him and Mahamudullah for their contributions. Additionally, he valued the first-rate preparation facilities near the Sylhet hotel.

“We want to move the Test team in the right path, therefore we’re going to try to play and prepare the wickets properly. We are not required to prepare a spin track. Preparing a spin or seaming track is not mentioned. Prior to Friday’s Test series at Sylhet, Phil Simmons remarked, “It looks really nice and hard.”

“I have to admit that Mushfiqur has contributed a great deal to Bangladeshi cricket. He and Mahmudullah are both very important to Bangladesh cricket. [Mushfiqur] is the epitome of professionalism. He believes that because of how hard he works, he can get the runs he deserves. He wants to succeed. He’s trying to be in good shape. Against Zimbabwe, he has had an incredible run. In this test, let’s make sure he goes where he wants to. There has been good preparation. The facilities seem like a dream to me. You are free to do as you like. The hotel is not far away. We’ve accomplished a lot in a short period of time,” he continued.

The Sylhet Test will be the main focus: Phil Simmons

Phil Simmons admitted that Blessing Muzarbani’s height advantage makes him a threat to the world, but he also pointed out that a number of players have faced him in franchise cricket and are getting ready for him. He went on to say that they are more concerned with winning the first Test in Sylhet than they are with a series whitewash or the Chittagong match.

“Any team in the world faces danger from him [Blessing].” He benefits from his height in several ways. However, a lot of the players have already faced him, primarily in franchise cricket. They’ve got a notion about him. Phil Simmons stated, “They are making sure that they have a way of playing against him.”

“A whitewash is unknown to me. One step at a time is how we proceed. We begin discussing winning the series once we win the first Test. I have to wait until Chittagong to look. “I must concentrate on Sylhet,” he continued.

Phil Simmons is confident in our pace unit.

Phil Simmons stated that they are happy with the four excellent right-arm pacers on the team at the moment, even if having a left-arm pacer is advantageous in contemporary international cricket. Nahid Rana’s speed and ability to trouble hitters were commended by him. Despite advancements since 2005, he continued, more work is required to place in the top three.

“We are content with the four quicks we now have in the team, but in international cricket these days, having a left-arm pacer is beneficial as long as you have two or three decent right-arm pace bowlers. Most fast bowlers are dying to match Nahid Rana’s pace. He will undoubtedly cause problems for batters if he bowls in the proper spots. Much progress has been made since 2005. To get where they want to be—in the top three—they must, however, continue to progress. We have a lot of work ahead of us,” he said.
