Peter Handscomb, who suffered an injury, is in a race against the clock to recover in time for the India tour

After sustaining an injury to his hip, Peter Handscomb, a batter for Australia, would be in a race against the clock to heal in time for the tour of India in the following month.

The player, who is 31 years old, was playing club cricket in Victoria on Tuesday night when he was injured while attempting to play a pull shot. He left the field injured after falling in pain after playing another pull shot three balls after his initial injury and departed from the game.

In a report that was published on cricket.com.au on Friday, it was stated that “scans have since verified soft-tissue injury in his right hip.”

“Peter Handscomb is expected to make a full recovery in time to travel to India with the Australian team on the Qantas trip later this month, according to the officials.

“The dates for Australia’s upcoming Test matches in India are as follows: February 9-13 in Nagpur; February 17-21 in New Delhi; March 1-5 in Dharamsala; and Ahmedabad (March 9-13).

However, Australia is suffering from a streak of injuries, and their important players Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green are both recovering from finger injuries. Australia hasn’t won a Test series in India since 2004, and they are now in the middle of a series there.

Green is optimistic that he would be able to play in the first match of the series despite the fact that Starc will be absent from the Nagpur Test. Starc is expected to rejoin his colleagues for the remainder of the series.

Peter Handscombb, who was a member of the Australian team that travelled through India in 2017, was selected to serve as batting backup for the Australian side that will compete in the India series. His final appearance in a Test was in 2019.

“Peter Handscomb has earned a spot in the team and should not be dropped. Pete has demonstrated that he is capable of performing well at the test level, and his recent form in domestic competition has been impressive “In a statement, George Bailey, who had previously served as skipper and now serves as chief selector, added.

It is also helpful because he has experience playing against spin on the subcontinent, and he is also an exceptionally good close to the wicket catcher.
