Pete Fitzboyden has been named the interim CEO of Cricket Scotland.

Pete Fitzboyden stated his objectives prior to being appointed, stating that he hopes to restore trust in the Cricket Scotland community by tackling anti-racism issues so that the sport and the nation’s governing body both go forward on a promising note.

The UK region, which is unquestionably a powerhouse globally, hosts a lot of cricket matches. As a result, given that the game has been played for more than a century, many eventualities are taken into consideration. And over the past few months, another issue has arisen that is causing the players’ belief in the idea of a global village to falter.

Yes! Concerns about racism have raised questions about how cricket boards and some players behave when it comes to discrimination both on and off the field. Recent discrimination cases in Yorkshire, England, required even the former captain of England, Michael Vaughan, to go through hearings before receiving a clean bill of health. However, there is one more country that has come in for criticism in the neighborhood over the issue of racism. It is Cricket Scotland, of course.

A serious discrimination revelation that shocked the country a few months ago resulted in Anjan Luthra’s resignation. In the most recent development, Pete Fitzboyden has been named Scotland‘s interim chief executive and will take Gordon Arthur’s post immediately. Notably, Pete Fitzboyden was brought on with a six-month contract after Arthur wanted to go sooner. Speaking of Pete Fitzboyden, he has held interim positions at Cycling UK and Badminton England in addition to serving as the organization’s former chief executive. He was most recently employed by the Rugby Football Union as a consultant.

I’m eagerly looking forward to traveling the nation and meeting individuals from all walks of life: Pete Fitzboyden

This innovative action has been made as a step to encourage diversity in the sport, which helps to provide players across the country with equal opportunity regardless of their color.

“I am excited to be a part of Cricket Scotland at this crucial juncture for the game. While working to restore trust within the Scottish cricketing community, much work needs to be done to build on the progress made thus far and fulfill our commitments to combat racism and EDI in the sport. Fitzboyden was reported by ESPN Cricinfo as stating, “I am also eager to support the continuous improvement of Cricket Scotland as an organization to ensure it flourishes for years to come.

“Our exciting domestic cricket season is about to start, and our men’s and women’s national teams have significant World Cup qualification campaigns coming up. It looks to be a very busy summer, and I am looking forward to traveling the nation to meet individuals who share my passion for cricket from all walks of life,” Pete Fitzboyden said.

In addition, Cricket Scotland has advanced toward declaring a specialized head for the “Anti Racism” designation following the study on racism that was released last year. “Changing the Boundaries” is the title of the position. Additionally, they have hired Declan Ritchie to serve as their sport manager and Kash Taank to lead EDI. The hiring of a permanent chief executive is still in the works; it is anticipated to start in the summer and be completed by December 2023.
