"People said it wasn't meant to be for us" - Mohit Sharma on IPL 2023 final loss to Chennai Super Kings.

Mohit Sharma recounted the conversations and reflections that took place inside the squad following the final. The IPL 2025 season, which has seen some legendary games, is ready to start. The tournament finals have included some of the most important games, and in 2023, the fans witnessed one of the greatest league finals ever. It was the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) sixth championship, matching the Mumbai Indians’ record.

The Gujarat Titans appeared to be winning the game. They were the top team in the league stages and the reigning champions. Mohit Sharma was the man who bowled the final over, however he collapsed under pressure in the last two balls.

“All of the squad members, including Ashish Nehra, Vikram Solanki, and Hardik, stated throughout the meetings that it was not our destiny. We might only lose five times and win 95 times if we play 100 out of 100. Therefore, let’s call the situation of losing five times “destiny” and cut the bill because there’s no reason to worry. Mohit Sharma stated, as News 18 cited.

I thus do whatever comes to me. To begin with, everyone had extremely positive things to say. Nobody said that one person alone could win you a game or cause you to lose one. Isn’t it a team game? Therefore, if someone accuses you of making a mistake, perhaps I could have told him how my entire season unfolded,” the 2014 IPL Purple Cap champion continued.

We appear strong on paper: Mohit Sharma

In the forthcoming competition, Mohit Sharma will be a member of the Delhi Capitals. He was purchased by the franchise for INR 2.20 crore. Mohit expressed his opinions regarding the franchise and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the team, which will be captained by Axar Patel.

Yes, we appear to be powerful on paper. However, we will know how we can function as a team and carry out our ideas once we are on the ground. The story on paper is a whole other scenario, thus I don’t follow it. All of the top ten teams are good, if you look at them. We appear to be a very strong unit. However, I will reiterate that you will need to carry out your plans somewhere,” the 36-year-old pacer stated.

“A player only becomes a major player when he carries out his intentions, regardless of how large he is now. Even if the Indian hitters in the middle order are feeble, they nevertheless manage to win your games. Therefore, the first week will be extremely important for ten days. We’ll see how we perform as a team and how successfully we can carry out our ideas,” Mohit continued.
