In order for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to plan the best possible logistical arrangements for the participating nations, the ICC should decide the Champions Trophy calendar by 2025. After a very long time, Pakistan is getting ready to host an ICC tournament, and the excitement among the supporters is evident.
The PCB has emphasized fast schedule finalization to guarantee flawless logistical planning in recent conversations with ICC officials. On the basis of the suggested schedule, tentative reservations have been made, according to a Tribune story. As soon as the official timetable is released, the board intends to ratify these arrangements.
By the end of the next month, the ICC is anticipated to provide a formal announcement regarding the Champions Trophy schedule. According to reports, the newly appointed ICC Chairman Jay Shah, the Secretary of the BCCI, and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi may meet in October to negotiate further specifics during the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup final.
As per the suggested schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy, Pakistan is grouped with Bangladesh, New Zealand, and India, its fiercest opponent. Afghanistan, Australia, South Africa, and England make up Group B. Before confirming their participation in the competition, the BCCI is expecting consultations with the Indian government. Since 2008, the Men in Blue have not played in Pakistan.
The main event is scheduled to start on February 19 and end on March 9, barring the need for the reserve day, which is scheduled for March 10. The three locations for the matches are Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
The England team will arrive for tests on October 2.
Next month, England and Pakistan are scheduled to play three Test matches. The last Test match is slated to take place in Rawalpindi, while the first two matches will take place in Multan. Five days prior to the commencement of the first Test, on October 2, the Three Lions will arrive in Multan.
The England Test team’s most recent trip to Pakistan took place in December 2022. The hosts were destroyed 3-0 by Ben Stokes and company in the three-match series. After losing their first-ever Test series to Bangladesh earlier this month, Pakistan is still nursing their wounds.
