PCB is likely to sever ties with a number of cricketers, resulting in a deluge of terminations.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in the process of revising the central player contracts for the 2023–2024 season. The current central agreements for players will expire on June 30; consequently, the cricket regulating body has begun discussing new contracts for the upcoming season.

Following discussions with captain Babar Azam and other senior cricketers, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) intends to promote and demote a number of players.

According to credible sources, contract modifications could result in a 20 percent increase in player compensation. Following discussions with the commander, a roster of players under contract will be compiled and presented to Najay Sethi’s PCB management committee. The PCB will presumably continue to grant separate contracts for red-ball and white-ball cricket, as it has in the past. The contracts will be divided into A, B, and C categories.

Fawad Alam, Khushda Shah, and Usman Qadir are anticipated to forfeit their central agreements with the PCB.

Due to his retirement, veteran batter Azhar Ali will be removed from the list of centrally-contracted athletes as part of the contract modifications. Fawad Alam, Haider Ali, Abid Ali, Yasir Shah, Nauman Ali, Khushdil Shah, Usman Qadir, and Zahid Mehmood may also lose their central contracts.

Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, and Babar Azam will likely remain in Category A. In addition, fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf are anticipated to receive contract extensions. Naseem Shah will be tallied in both the red ball and white ball categories. According to the contract manifest, Iftikhar Ahmed, Saim Ayub, Ihsanullah, Usama Mir, Mohammad Haris, and Zaman Khan are additional players. Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is anticipated to retain his red-ball contract.

The PCB intends to have the players sign the amended contracts by the end of June; therefore, it is working aggressively to finalize the updated central contracts.
