PCB inducts four former Pakistani icons into Hall of Fame

Inzamam-ul-Haq, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Mohammad, and Saeed Anwar are among the former cricket players who will be inducted into the PCB Hall of Fame by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). An independent panel consisting of 11 members, including journalists, women international cricket players, and PCB Hall of Famers, selected the players to be admitted.

Cricket journalists and analysts Majid Bhatti, Mohi Shah, Mohammad Yaqoob, Nauman Niaz, Sawera Pasha, Zahid Maqsood, Wasim Akram, Zaheer Abbas (both PCB Hall of Famers), Azhar Ali (former Pakistan captain), Bismah Maroof, and Nain Abidi (both former women international cricket players) participated in the voting process.

Following in the footsteps of Abdul Qadir, AH Kardar, Fazal Mahmood, Hanif Mohammad, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Younis Khan, and Zaheer Abbas, the four cricketing titans of Pakistan have become members of the prestigious Hall of Fame. When he revealed the players’ names, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the induction was a celebration of their efforts to Pakistani cricket.

“I want to express my sincere congratulations to these four cricketing greats on their well-deserved admission into the PCB Hall of Fame on behalf of the Pakistan Cricket Board,.

As reported by PCB, Naqvi stated, “This honour is a tribute to their outstanding contributions to Pakistan cricket and to the global game.”

“Pakistan is incredibly lucky to have produced such exceptional athletes who have demonstrated their talent and sportsmanship on a worldwide scale. I hope our future cricket players would take inspiration from these greats and try to emulate them, maintaining their history and solidifying Pakistan’s standing as a cricketing superpower,” he continued.

The fact that Misbah-Ul-Haq, the captain of Pakistan, retired in 2017 and Inzamam-Ul-Haq, a former cricket player, retired in 2007 is noteworthy. Saeed Anwar, one of the nation’s most distinguished batters, retired in 2003, while Mushtaq Mohammad closed out his 20-year playing career in 1979.
