According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Australia (CA) are negotiating a new date for the forthcoming white-ball series. This is being done to prevent the Pakistan Super League and the 2026 T20 World Cup from clashing with the white-ball series, in which Australia and Pakistan will play three Twenty20 Internationals and then as many One-Day Internationals.
The T20Is were originally planned to take place immediately before the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka and is set to start on February 7. The Australians were scheduled to return to Pakistan for the 50-overs stage of the series after the 20-team competition. The two boards are in talks to find a compromise because that would conflict with the PSL.
Before the T20 World Cup began, the three Twenty20 Internationals were scheduled to take place on January 30, February 2, and February 5. The ODIs were then scheduled for March 13, March 16, and March 19.
Playing a bilateral series won’t be desired for PCB now that the PSL, which usually takes place in February, has been moved a bit further to be played in March.
A final decision about Australia’s visit of Pakistan will be made with greater clarity after the International Cricket Council (ICC) releases the 2026 World Cup calendar on Tuesday, November 25. As of right now, it is understandable that while the T20Is will run according to schedule, the ODIs for the tour might not.
This is not the first time that an ICC event has caused a scheduling conflict for PCB. The Champions Trophy in 2025 signalled the return of international competition to Pakistan, and as a result, the PSL was played in April and May under the auspices of the Indian Premier tournament (IPL), the world’s largest franchise-based T20 tournament.
