One of Punjab’s deadliest natural disasters in decades has struck the state as a result of the devastating floods. However, the Punjab Kings (PBKS), a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), have stepped up to offer assistance by contributing INR 33.8 lakh to relief operations.
Rising water levels in rivers like the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi, as well as heavy rainfall, have had an impact on Punjab. At least 37 people have died as a result of the flood, which was caused by upstream dam releases and heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
Official sources state that over 3.5 lakh people have been impacted, with approximately 61,000 hectares of farmland inundated and over 1,000 communities swamped. One of the worst floods Punjab has had since 1988, all 23 districts in the state have been declared affected. Notably, the Indian Army, NDRF, BSF, and local authorities have assisted in the evacuation of more than 11,000 persons.
We will use our efforts to assist victims in areas affected by flooding:
The franchise committed INR 33.8 lakh to bolster ongoing relief efforts in collaboration with Round Table India and the Hemkunt Foundation. The money will be utilised to buy the essential inflatable rescue boats. Additionally, these boats will be long-term disaster response resources for the state’s upcoming emergencies.
We are heartbroken to see the devastation that floods have caused throughout our dear state, and we are collaborating with the Hemkunt Foundation and RTI to aid people in need. According to a PBKS official statement, “Our efforts will be used to strengthen resilience for Sadda Punjab in times of need and assist the victims across flood-affected regions.”
In the meantime, the “Together for Punjab” campaign was started by PBKS.

Additionally, the company declared that the money would be used to provide affected communities with medical assistance, clean drinking water distribution, and delivery of necessary materials. Additionally, PBKS is working to develop a framework that would help Punjab handle such crises in the future.
In addition to providing direct financial assistance, Punjab Kings has started a Ketto fundraising drive with the goal of raising INR 2 crore. The Global Sikh Charity, which has been actively aiding flood-affected communities and reconstruction efforts in Punjab, will receive the funds raised.
