Recently, Sunil Joshi, the assistant coach for the PBKS, stated that Yuzvendra Chahal was sidelined for the team’s match against the Delhi Capitals because of a minor ailment. The first game Chahal missed for his team in the current Indian Premier League season was the encounter versus DC on May 24.
Joshi disclosed that a “small niggle” was the reason for the 34-year-old leg-spinner’s respite.
We’re only resting Chahal since he has a minor ache. That’s the plan,” Joshi said during the news conference following the game, according to India Today, without going into great detail about the injury.
Instead of Chahal, Praveen Dubey was given his first game for PBKS this season. Dubey, who entered as the Impact Player, bowled just a few overs. Sediqullah Atal was taken out by him, but he gave up 20 runs. However, Chahal’s absence was felt.
With three deliveries remaining, PBKS lost the match by six wickets.
Chahal, 34, has taken 14 wickets in 11 innings thus far in the competition, giving up runs at a rate of 9.56 per over. His four-wicket haul against the Chennai Super Kings on April 30 was his most notable effort. There was also a hat-trick among the four wickets. Interestingly, it was his second IPL hat-trick.
