The notion of letting the WTC champions host the next edition’s finals was proposed by Australian captain Pat Cummins. He did, however, add that the final should always be held at Lord’s, the figurative home of cricket, if there are logistical issues.
England is hosting the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the third consecutive year. At The Rose Bowl in Southampton in 2021, New Zealand defeated India by eight wickets to become the first champions. Australia defeated India by 209 runs to win the second edition two years later at the Kennington Oval in London.
Australia, the reigning champions, will play South Africa in the most recent edition at London’s storied Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering hosting the summit match, according to recent sources.
In terms of logistics, that appears to be the most straightforward method of having a single location. It would be good if the former winner hosted it the following time, or something similar. India Today Cricket cited Cummins as stating, “But as an alternative, I think having it at Lord’s every cycle is also a pretty good place.”
First, I think it will be difficult to top the 2023 ODI World Cup: Pat Cummins
According to Cummins, Australia’s performance as a red-ball team over the past four years will be amply demonstrated by their two WTC titles. But he said that his greatest accomplishment to date is still the ODI World Cup that Australia won in 2023, with the WTC victory coming in second.
“This group has had tremendous success over the past four years or so, and it has accounted for a significant portion of our careers for both players and staff. “To hold the mace at the end of that would be a great sign of something to point to now but also down the road,” Pat Cummins said. “We feel like we have been the best team in the world across all different conditions, so having two maces is a really significant thing to show for that period of time.”
“My top prediction is that it will be difficult to top the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, I think the globe Test Championship trophy is little less significant since you’re playing against every other team in the globe and you’ve been successful for a few years to reach the final,” the skipper said.
