The Mumbai Indians are pursuing certain well-known foreign players in an effort to restructure their roster before the IPL 2024 auction. Renowned cricket analyst Sanjay Manjrekar thinks that in order to strengthen their bowling attack, they may target Pat Cummins or Mitchell Starc.
Manjrekar was forthright in his criticism of the Mumbai Indians‘ previous auction approach, stating that their team selection had been inadequate. It’s been speculated that since the release of big stars like Jofra Archer, the team may try to sign some of the top fast bowlers in the world.
To be brutally honest, the auction results showed that the Mumbai Indians were not very wealthy. Thus, through their trades and releases, they have mostly fixed their blunders. “I believe they may require a backup foreign bowler, as they currently have Jason Behrendorff and Jofra Archer,” Manjrekar stated on Star Sports.

As to Manjrekar, a lot of Australian players, especially those like Josh Hazlewood, Cummins, and Starc, are expected to be in demand after Australia’s recent victory in the ODI World Cup.

The Mumbai-based team can make calculated decisions because they have a sizeable sum of INR 17.75 crore available for the auction. Manjrekar says that the squad should concentrate on improving their pace bowling because they have a good middle order that includes players like Tim David, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya.
“Their middle order is excellent. Someone resembling Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Tim David enter the picture. Maybe a tad short in terms of bowling pace. Thus, they would like to have an additional choice abroad,” he continued.
