The top wicketkeeping captains and left-handed wicketkeeper-batters throughout history were discussed by former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel.
Parthiv Patel responded that Dhoni was incomparable and a “far better” wicketkeeper than Sri Lankan great Sangakkara when asked who he thought was the finest wicketkeeping captain among Andy Flower, Kumar Sangakkara, and MS Dhoni.
“There isn’t a parallel. Parthiv Patel stated, “The Great Indian Cricket Show” on Doordarshan, “Mahendra Singh Dhoni was a far better wicketkeeper-captain than Sangakkara.”
“Because I played with Sangakkara during his time as the keeper-captain of the Deccan Chargers.” He wasn’t bad, exactly. As a captain and wicketkeeper, Dhoni was superior to everyone else, Parthiv Patel said.
White-ball cricket player Rishabh Pant is still developing: Parthiv Patel
Among Adam Gilchrist, Rishabh Pant, and Kumar Sangakkara, Parthiv Patel selected Gilchrist as the best left-handed wicket-keeper batsman, citing Sangakkara’s incomplete career as a wicketkeeper and calling Pant a “work in progress.”
“Adam Gilchrist.” It’s clear that Sangakkara was a different player in terms of grace and style. However, he did not play as a wicket-keeper batsman for the entirety of his career. Sometimes as a wicketkeeper, sometimes as a batsman,” Parthiv remarked.
When it comes to white-ball cricket, I believe Rishabh Pant is still developing. But in terms of Test and white-ball cricket, I believe Adam Gilchrist is the whole package,” he continued.
At the age of 17, Parthiv made his Test debut for India against England at Trent Bridge in 2002, making him the youngest wicketkeeper in Test history. He scored more than 1,700 runs in all forms during his international career, which included 25 Test matches, 38 ODIs, and two T20Is.
