Mohammad Rizwan speaks out after Pakistan's devastating T20 World Cup exit

Pakistan was ignominiously ousted from the T20 World Cup 2024 group stage. The team captained by Babar Azam was defeated by India and the United States of America (USA) in their first two matches of the campaign, which made it difficult for them to advance to the Super Eights of the prestigious competition. They won their next two games, but it was too little, too late, and they ended up third in the race.

The national squad received harsh criticism on social media and other platforms from a large number of former cricket players and fans who were appalled by their performance. In a recent interview, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan revealed that the players were unhappy with their campaign following a humiliating departure. The 32-year-old went on to say the players should take all the criticism because they were unable to live up to the expectations.

“The team deserves this criticism because we didn’t perform up to the expected standards, and that is justified. According to NDTV Sports, Rizwan stated in a press conference that players who are unable to take criticism will never be successful.

The seasoned cricket player continued by saying that the team were discouraged following a depressing campaign and disclosed that numerous things contributed to their defeat. He did, however, acknowledge the efforts made by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi and state that although the boys’ selection of the squad was the right option, they failed to perform on the pitch.

“We are not pleased with how we performed at the T20 World Cup.

Our losses are caused by a variety of factors. One cannot claim that batting and bowling are performing well when their team is losing. Operations are commonplace. When someone is unwell, surgery is required. The PCB Chairman is an industrious individual. Rizwan continued, “The chairman has the authority to decide who will stay on the squad and who won’t.

Players from Pakistan are either playing or preparing for franchise cricket in the interim. Many of them compete in the current LPL, while a handful will compete in the MLC, GT20 Canada, and The Hundred.
