"The board is not interested in us winning the World Cup; they want the team to fail." A senior Pakistani player makes grave accusations against the PCB.

Many have questioned Pakistani performance thus far in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. Pakistani is in seventh place in the standings after playing six games in the competition, with just four points, and its prospects of qualifying are quite slim.

Nonetheless, a lot of people believe that the side’s problems extend beyond the field and that a number of them have deep roots within the board. In a recent statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board, or PCB, asked supporters to lend greater support to Babar Azam and his team.

According to the announcement, the board will decide on certain matters pertaining to the team’s improvement contingent on how well they perform in the 2023 ODI World Cup. A top Pakistani player has said that the PCB does not want the team to win and instead wants the “team to fail” in light of the strange timing of the team’s announcement.

Under the condition of anonymity, a senior player told Cricbuzz, “The board wants the team to fail; they don’t want us to win the World Cup just so that they can make the changes and take control of who leads the team and who gets into the team.”

Mickey Arthur, the director of the Pakistani squad, supported Babar and his colleagues despite the team’s string of defeats, accusing the stakeholders of launching a “witch hunt” against the players and team management. Arthur was fully aware of the problems that existed both inside and outside the team.

“Don’t worry, PCB will assign blame to everyone. It’s just the nature of things. Starting a witch hunt on Babar Azam, Inzi [Inzamam-ul-Haq], our coaches, and the management group is incredibly unjust. All I know is that the boys have made an effort, and the players and coaching staff have given it their all. They would be astounded to see how much work the players and staff put in,” he remarked.

Pakistani is prepared to face Bangladesh.

Pakistan is going to be preparing to resume its winning ways. The Men in Green’s next assignment is to play Bangladesh in the thirty-first World Cup match of 2023. On October 31, both sides will square off at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.

Pakistan will aim to become better, play well against Bangladesh, and resume their winning ways following a close game against South Africa in which they lost badly. It should be intriguing to watch which team wins in Kolkata as the match draws closer.
