Following a crucial conference in Bali, Indonesia, it was decided that Pakistan would assume the esteemed position of president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in 2025. Acting Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Chief Election Commissioner Shah Khawar led the delegation on behalf of Pakistan, which also included COO Salman Naseer.
Several accounts claim that Khawar refused to sit out the discussion silently and was voicing his concerns at various points during the process. In addition, Jay Shah’s term as president of the ACC should be extended for another year, as requested by Shami Silva, President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Not to mention, a decision has been made that, starting in January 2025, the president of the ACC will be a PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) delegate for a two-year term.
The prior meeting’s minutes were also delayed, and Naseer’s letter regarding it was not answered.
Khawar made the same argument during the meeting: because of the delay, the minutes were sent three days ago, even though they were supposed to be sent immediately after the meeting.
Jay Shah will serve another year as president.
It was just revealed that Jay Shah, the current ACC president, will serve as president for one more year, with a PCB delegate scheduled to assume the role in 2025. The ACC chairperson rotates on a regular basis; Sri Lanka intended to take over following Bangladesh, but events took a different turn.
Shah’s term has been extended with the board’s approval and Sri Lanka Cricket’s willingness to give up a year of control. The member nations all agreed to the same decision.
