A top Pakistani team member claimed that the reports of a verbal altercation were untrue.

Rumours of internal strife within the Pakistani cricket squad have been circulating in the media since Pakistan’s hotly contested last-ball loss to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023. A senior squad member, highlighting the team’s unwavering dedication to the game, has, however, shot down these rumours. The event in question was an argument between Pakistan’s ace fast bowler, ,Shaheen afridi and captain Babar Azam during a post-match team meeting.

According to reports, Pakistani Babar Azam complained about the performances of some senior players, which prompted Afridi to ask him to thank the players who had done well. Mohammad Rizwan reportedly intervened to mediate as a result of this circumstance. A top member of the team quickly denied these allegations when asked for comment.

“Cricket is the team’s only priority; we are not concerned about the criticism. Losing a game gives our detractors a platform to speak, but they are essentially unfounded accusations,” according to CricketPakistan.

“Everyone voiced their opinions during the team meeting, but the rumours of a verbal altercation or the necessity for the coaching staff to step in are untrue. Everyone left the conference together, and some teammates took the same flight home to Pakistan, he added.

Pakistan is extremely concerned about player injuries ahead of the ODI World Cup in 2023.

The team has faced further difficulties as Naseem Shah’s likely absence due to a shoulder ailment and worries about Haris Rauf’s fitness before the ODI World Cup 2023 have added to their problems. The World Cup run by Pakistan will start on October 6 against the Netherlands. However, these injury issues have made their participation doubtful at this point.

It would be intriguing to watch if the team can recover and concentrate on resolving their deficiencies to make an impact on the world stage as they deal with injuries and internal issues. The eagerly anticipated World Cup is due to start on October 5 in India.
