Following Australia's decisive victory over Pakistan in Perth, Team India rises to the top of the most recent WTC rankings.

In the opening Test of the current three-match series, Australia easily defeated Pakistan, solidifying their fifth-place ranking in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points table.

As a result, Team India rose to the top of the most recent WTC standings following their humiliation at the hands of the host team with a whopping 360 runs.

Australia won by a dominant 360 runs at Optus Stadium in Perth, thanks in large part to the all-around effort of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and David Warner’s century. Australia’s points percentage has increased from 30 to 41.67%, although they still hold fifth place in the ICC WTC points standings despite this noteworthy accomplishment. However, after losing their opening match in the current WTC cycle, Pakistan’s point percentage fell from 100 to 66.67% at the same time.

Furthermore, with a 50% point share each, New Zealand and Bangladesh share third place. In sixth and seventh place, respectively, are the West Indies and England. But while South Africa gets ready for their first-ever two-match Test series in the WTC 2023–25 cycle, Sri Lanka hasn’t picked up any points yet either.

Before the end of 2023, the WTC points table is expected to undergo several modifications.

With two pivotal Test matches scheduled to begin on December 26, the end of 2023 is anticipated to bring about major changes to the WTC points table. The Boxing Day Test match between Australia and Pakistan will take place at the storied Melbourne Cricket Ground, while the match between South Africa and India will take place at SuperSport Park. The overall rankings are expected to be significantly impacted by the results of these games.

In these next Test matches, Australia and South Africa will gain from home advantage, even if Pakistan and India are now leading the standings. An element of unpredictability is added by India’s recent 1-2 loss to South Africa in their away Test series, while Pakistan has the task of having not won a Test in Australia in a recent era. But it’s predicted that both Pakistan and India would try to win their Boxing Day Test matches in an attempt to overcome the odds.
