Following the cancellation of their scheduled match because the Indian players withdrew, the Pakistan champions have refused to share points with their bitter rivals, the Indian champions. Because of the tense relations with their neighbour, the Indian players chose to stay home.
According to World Championship of Legends (WCL) sources on Monday, the tournament organisers notified the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that the Indian team was not at fault and that the match could not be held because of uncontrollable circumstances.
“The England and Wales Cricket Board has been informed by WCL that they were unable to host this game as the event’s organisers. It is not the fault of the India Champions team.
According to WCL sources cited by NDTV Sports, the Pakistan Champions squad is unwilling to split points since they claim that India, not them, backed out.
A number of Indian players, such as Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina, also announced that they will not be playing in the India-Pakistan match. According to sources, several players in the Indian team have adopted a similar position, which ultimately resulted in the game being called off.
“Uspe aaj bhi waise hi khada hoon, jo kadam 11 May ko liya. Desh se badhkar kuch nahi hota, aur desh mere liye sab kuch hai. (I remain committed to the choice I made on May 11. Dhawan stated on X, “My country is everything to me, and nothing is bigger than the country.”
With three points, the Pakistani champions are now leading the WCL 2025 points standings, while the Indian champions are in fourth position with one point. The Indian champions had the advantage in the previous competition, defeating the Pakistani champions by five wickets in the championship match.
In the meanwhile, on July 22 in Northampton, the India Champions will play the South Africa Champions, and on July 25, the Pakistan Champions will play the South Africa Champions.
