In the IPL 2025, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are now in a difficult situation. To guarantee a spot in the playoffs this season, the Rishabh Pant-led team, who are now seventh in the standings, will need to win all three of their games by significant margins.
This season, the Lucknow team has struggled due to a few key players’ erratic performances. Even if the team has displayed flashes of some outstanding play, it hasn’t been enough to control the game’s pivotal moments. Former IPL champion coach Tom Moody shared his thoughts on the team’s performance, stating that in order for them to have a chance at the event, they must play as a unit. Moody also identifies the crucial elements that the squad needs to focus on in order to win their next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
At the end of the day, LSG must work together. With Nicholas Pooran at the helm, they had a strong start to the season. However, players like Rishabh Pant haven’t had a good season because of his declining form, and David Miller has also struggled in that final position,” the former Australian all-rounder stated.
Their bowling unit has been under a great deal of strain as a result. At this point, they need their bowlers to give it their all. The batting needs to get much better. “Yes, they can effectively compete against Sunrisers if they can combine both of those factors,” Moody continued.
The following three LSG games
The Super Giants’ next two games will be difficult, aside from their matchup with the Hyderabad franchise, which is scheduled for May 19 at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will play the final game on May 27 at their home field, while the Gujarat Titans (GT) will play the following game on May 22 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
