ODI World Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma tells the umpire during India vs. Pakistan, Match 12 the origin of the infamous bicep-flexing motion.

On Saturday, October 14, during India’s commanding seven-wicket victory against Pakistan in the current ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, cricket fans were treated to a remarkable knock from Indian captain Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma promptly asked Pakistan to bat first after winning the toss. The Indian bowlers performed admirably, dismissing Pakistan for a pitiful score of 191 in 42.5 overs. In response, Rohit made the decision not to give the “Men in Green” a chance as he pounded his way to an 86-run knock off 63 balls using a variety of strokes, including six fours and as many sixes. With seven wickets in hand and 117 balls remaining, the 2011 world champions finished the game. This innings made India’s run-chase look easy.

The Mumbai hitter played a daring innings, pulling Haris Rauf for a maximum that sailed deep backward square leg and into the stands around eight rows back. This ball, which was bowled at 141.1 kph, was the first one of the 15th over. Rohit Sharma was seen flexing his bicep after making this huge six, and this move quickly went viral.

Hardik Pandya took on the role of anchor for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) media team following the host nation’s convincing victory. The all-around talent requested an explanation from his captain for the action. The 36-year-old said that on-field umpire Marais Erasmus questioned him about whether or not there was something in his bat assisting him in hitting such huge sixes. The seasoned cricketer responded by telling Erasmus that he was the cause, not the bat.

Are you sure that you want to tell Erasmus that it’s time to go?There’s a bat there, what’s up? Erasmus asked me how I was hitting such long sixes and whether there was anything in my bat. Maine bola bat mein nahi bhai power hai.

Rohit Sharma said Hardik, “I merely told him it was my power and not the bat.
