ODI World Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma makes one last explosive cameo to cap off his bat career

On Sunday, November 19, in the massive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India and Australia are battling it out in the ODI World Cup 2023 final. Considering the dew issue, Pat Cummins won a key toss and decided to bowl first. The surface was dry, according to experts, and the Indian hitters had to put the Australian bowlers to shame while the ball was still fresh and firm. In the championship match, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who batted with the mantra “live by the sword, die by the sword” the entire time, didn’t change his strategy.

From the first ball, the 36-year-old brought the Australian bowlers to task. Rohit struck Josh Hazlewood for two consecutive boundaries in the second over, and he didn’t let up after that. Playing with no fear, he blasted three massive sixes and four fours to score an explosive 47 off just 31 balls. Rohit came out to try another huge shot after hitting Glenn Maxwell for a four and a six. But instead of going full stretch to complete an incredible catch, Travis Head ran backwards from cover-point after he sliced the ball. To get rid of the Mumbai batter, it took something unique, and Head delivered.

Rohit Sharma remarkable performance at the CWC 2023

In the ODI World Cup 2023, Rohit concluded his batsmanship with a blitzkrieg in the championship match, and his overall stats are very remarkable.

With an excellent strike rate of 125.95 and a respectable average of 54.27, Rohit amassed 597 runs in 11 games. In the main event, he scored a single century and three fifties. Of the 597 runs, 401 came at a strike rate of 135 inside the first PowerPlay. He had the most sixes of any player in a single World Cup during the competition, with 31. As captain of the second inning, the Nagpur native will now be crucial to the team.
