The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which is headquartered in Kolkata and is India’s cricketing capital, apparently received an unexpected request. The city, known for its fervent cricket supporters, had requested the postponement of a crucial World Cup match between Pakistan and England that was initially scheduled for November 12th. Given that the requested date falls on Kali Puja, the second-largest celebration in West Bengal after the magnificent Durga Puja, this request is being made.
The city’s vigilant law enforcement is preparing to protect the safety and security of all teams involved, despite these exciting developments. The cricket community was reassured by Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, who said that they will “think differently” to give the visiting Pakistan squad the best possible security.
“We have years of effective management. We will set everything up the same way this time. There won’t be any issues. The Kolkata Police and the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), which will host five critical World Cup matches, including the semifinals, have already started talking.
