England player Moeen Ali lauded Ravindra Jadeja’s batting but criticised his bowling. On Day 5 at Lord’s, Jadeja scored an unbroken 61 off 181 deliveries in almost four hours to keep India’s hopes alive.
Moeen said the 36-year-old is still landing the ball well but hasn’t made an effect. Jadeja has only three wickets in three Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy matches.
Just knows what he’s doing. He’s probably done it for years. Obviously, he’s batting well this series. He doesn’t get many of wickets with the ball, but he does. The man is tight. Although he can bowl, he is not exceptional I think he’s at his best batting. He lacks wickets bowling-wise. The total shows he’s bowled well, but he lacks wickets, Moeen told India Today.
Moeen also thought Kuldeep Yadav deserved a shot in the Manchester Test, but he admitted he may not make the team.
He said that Washington Sundar bowled well and Jadeja batted, making Kuldeep’s inclusion difficult.
“I want Kuldeep in the team, but for whom. Washington bowled brilliantly, Jadeja batted. So bringing in Kuldeep Yadav is problematic. I want Kuldeep in, but I don’t think they can,” Moeen remarked.
India will look to tie the series in the fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester. England will try to win the series in the next match.
