The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has refused NOCs to a number of Pakistani celebrities, including Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Babar Azam. For the GT20, all three players asked for NOCs (Global T20 Canada). Following PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s declaration that the country’s obligations should always come first, the denial was made.
Naqvi declared that because of the upcoming Test series, players requesting NoCs for their home leagues would not be granted.
The announcement of the protocol modifications followed Pakistan’s persistently poor performances in important competitions.
The Men in Green recently lost matches against India and the USA, sending them sailing out of the T20 World Cup 2024 in the group stages. Speaking to the media, Naqvi stated that the players’ performances in domestic cricket will now be taken into consideration before the selection of players for the national squad, and he also outlined new standards for player performance.

Additionally, he said that players would not be allowed to play for their national team if they do not play domestic cricket. Additionally, the chairman mentioned that former cricket players will be part in the decision-making process, but no announcement was made regarding the change in the side’s captain.
In addition, Mohsin Naqvi discussed the recent incident involving star pacer Haris Rauf, who was mistreated by a fan while strolling through the streets of the United States with his family during the Twenty20 World Cup.
He disclosed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been notified about the person who harassed Rauf. The PCB’s announcement that any misconduct towards the players will not be accepted and that anyone caught engaging in such behaviour will face harsh consequences led to the decision.

Moreover, among the most crucial subjects the PCB chairman covered was fitness. A number of fitness tests, such as the Yo-Yo test, are now required, and athletes who pass them will be the only ones eligible to represent their country.
