Nitish Reddy has been given enough of chances to develop while playing for the national team, according to Ryan ten Doeschate, India’s assistant coach. After playing eight Test matches, Nitish Reddy is expected to play his next match on Friday, October 10 against the West Indies in the second and last match of the current series.
In the forthcoming second Test of the India-West Indies series in Delhi, Ten Doeschate, who was formerly a seam-bowling all-rounder, emphasised the possible lineup that the squad will ultimately have. He also made a suggestion that Nitish Reddy might be included in the lineup when India takes the pitch on Friday in an attempt to humiliate the guests.
We probably won’t alter the combo. Creating an all-rounder who can bowl and seam is one of the medium-term goals for India. Making sure that role is covered after we go is crucial. Nitish Reddy wasn’t really visible to us last week. Ten Doeschate said, “It’s a great chance to give Nitish Reddy another chance without changing the team’s balance,” as reported by The Hindu.
The former Netherlands all-rounder emphasised how important it is for Nitish Reddy to have regular exposure at the top level.
He also identified a potential barrier that would prevent Nitish from being included in the elite group of Indian all-round players.
He is an excellent seam-bowling all-around player, in our opinion. His body is going to be the largest constraint on his potential. He finds it difficult to gain playing time in between away series. He continued, “It is more crucial to look ahead and see how we can fit him in so that he gets game time in a series like this.”
The second Test between India and the Caribbean team is scheduled to take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The contest will start on Friday, October 10 and last for five days. In preparation for the Men in Blue’s forthcoming white-ball series against Australia, Nitish has been selected for both the ODI and T20I teams. Remarkably, Nitish has only participated in one home Test match out of eight. For the forthcoming red-ball series against South Africa, which starts following the Australian tour, he is also anticipated to be included in India’s squad.
