Due to a left knee injury, Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will not be playing in the current five-match series against England. He will take a plane back to India for additional evaluation and care.
In addition, left-arm bowler Arshdeep suffered an impact damage to his left thumb while bowling during a net session, which has forced him out of the forthcoming fourth Test, which begins in Manchester on July 23. In Manchester, Anshul Kamboj had joined the team.
The BCCI medical staff will be keeping an eye on Arshdeep’s recuperation while Nitish Kumar receives treatment back home.
“Nitish Kumar Reddy, an all-rounder, will miss the next two Test matches due to a left knee injury. The team wishes Nitish a quick recovery and he will take a flight home,” a BCCI statement stated.
“Arshdeep Singh will not play in Manchester’s fourth Test match against England. During a Beckenham training session, he bowled in the nets and suffered an impact injury to his left thumb. His progress is being tracked by the BCCI Medical Team,” it continued.
In relation to series, India is now behind 2-1. The hosts won the series opener at Headingley by five wickets, and they were on the losing side of the outcome. On the strength of a superb batting performance by captain Shubman Gill, India recovered in spectacular fashion and won the second match at Edgbaston by an unprecedented 336 runs. They gave up the lead, though, after losing a thrilling match at Lord’s by 22 runs.
At Old Trafford, the visitors will try to tie the series. The start of the fourth Test is set for Wednesday, July 23. In the third game, Gill’s batting performance was not too impressive. His ability to lead the squad on the field and his batting performance will be closely watched.
