'This is our moment, means a lot'-  Nigar Sultana after win her Women's T20 World Cup game

Every team would have the goal of beginning a worldwide competition with a victory. But for captain Nigar Sultana and company, Bangladesh Women’s 16-run victory over Sri Lanka Women would signify so much more.

After all, they haven’t seen success in the Women’s World Cup for ten long years—16 games spread across four seasons. Sultana was obviously ecstatic as she expressed her feelings during the post-match ceremony. Sultana went on to discuss the in-game tactics her team used, giving gratitude to Marufa Akter, Sobhana Mostary, Shathi Rain, and the spinners.

“We have been anticipating this day for a very long time. We believed that this was our chance. “Means a lot!” Sultana exclaimed following the game.

“We must establish ourselves on a wicket like this one. It was difficult at first to bat on. For us, it was essential that Rani and Mostary form a partnership. We continued to believe in ourselves and had a good total. Marufa is playing well, and we have a really strong spin attack, so we were optimistic about the defensive. The captain of Bangladesh Women said, “We are trying to do something different (about her batting lower than usual).”

The greatest inspiration comes from seeing them smile: Nigar Sultana

Sultana also revealed the source of her greatest inspiration. Bangladesh has recently experienced a great deal of political unrest. Many cricket players experienced some sort of impact from the violence. The Tigresses will only aim for better outcomes after this win, and they will undoubtedly have a lot of motivation to continue winning their campaign. Next up for Bangladesh Women is a nighttime match vs England Women.

“We were attempting to gain momentum, and we succeeded. Sultana said, “I’m so glad we fought back, and the biggest inspiration is seeing them (the girls) smile.”
