Nicholas Lee has been appointed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board as their new strength and conditioning coach.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) recently announced the appointment of Nicholas Lee as the new strength and conditioning coach for the Afghanistan national team, which is a significant accomplishment for the company.

On February 23, Nicholas Lee is scheduled to join the team as they prepare for the forthcoming home all-format series against Ireland.

In his 13 first-class games, Nicholas Lee, a former Kent hitter, has amassed 490 runs at an average of 30.62, including three half-centuries and a career-high undefeated 79*. In addition, he has been with the Bangladesh Cricket Board since March 2020 as the Head of Physical Performance. Before that, from October 2016 to February 2020, he served as the strength and conditioning coach for Sri Lanka for three years. Jason Douglas served as Afghanistan’s previous strength and conditioning coach for more than nine years.

Afghanistan wants to defeat Sri Lanka in the third ODI to get a consolation victory.

Regarding Afghanistan’s current assignments, the team is playing Sri Lanka in a multi-format series. Afghanistan lost the first two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against the team after the one Test match. The third ODI between the two teams will take place on Wednesday, February 14, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

On February 11, both teams squared up in the second One-Day International (ODI) of the series, with Sri Lanka batting first. With the bat, the hosts performed admirably. 61 runs from Kusal Mendis and 97 runs from Asalanka helped Sri Lanka score 308 runs in the first inning.

With three wickets under his belt, Azmatullah Omarzai led Afghanistan in wicket-taking. Noor Ahmad, Qais Ahmad, and Fazalhaq Farooqi also scored a single strike. Afghanistan, trying to pursue the objective, gave in to the pressure of Sri Lanka’s bowling assault. Sri Lanka won the match by a margin of 155 runs and secured the series after being bowled out for just 153 runs.
