When Nicholas Pooran announced his retirement from international cricket, Rishabh Pant was among the first members of the cricket community to congratulate him on social media. After Aiden Markram’s incredible century helped South Africa defeat Australia by five wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC) final on Saturday, June 14, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter shared another touching message on the internet to congratulate the right-handed batsman.
During his time with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the just finished Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Pant has developed strong bonds with teammates Pooran and Markram. Despite LSG’s failure to qualify for the playoffs, Pooran and Markram performed admirably, scoring 524 and 445 runs, respectively.
Rishabh Pant congratulated the Rainbow Nation and heaped admiration on Markram, whom he called his “brother,” on his official ‘X’ handle after South Africa ended their 27-year drought for an ICC crown.
“Good job, brother Aiden. What a fantastic knock under pressure! I’m very delighted for you. Congratulations to South Africa for raising the WTC mace; you have made us all proud,” Rishabh Pant remarked.
