Cricket South Africa said on Wednesday (September 10) that Lungi Ngidi, a bowler for South Africa, will not play in the forthcoming Twenty20 International series against England. After tests, it was determined that Lungi had sustained a hamstring injury during Tuesday’s training at Sophia Gardens.
Nandre Burger has been appointed as Ngidi’s replacement, and he will now return home on Thursday.
Burger will only join the T20I lineup prior to the second match in Manchester, despite having been a member of the ODI team that won the series 2-1. The series’ opening match is set for Wednesday, and South Africa will conclude their tour with the final Twenty20 International at Trent Bridge on Sunday, September 14.
