New Zealand Women likely to tour India for ODI series after Women's T20 World Cup 2024

After the current Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, the New Zealand women will go to India to play a three-match ODI series. The three matches have been added to the ICC Women’s Championship 2022–25 calendar. They are slated to take place on October 24, 27, and 29, respectively.

The three ODI series games are scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad.

Surprisingly, the Kiwis were supposed to go to India already last year. But the visit was canceled due to a packed schedule that included two one-off Test matches against Australia and England after the completion of the ninth Women’s Big Bash League.

Given the significant Championship points up for grabs, it is anticipated that both sides will field rosters at full strength. This suggests that, at the very least, a few of the teams’ well-known players will miss the first few rounds of the 10th WBBL season. This is because the second game of the series will take place on the same day that the WBBL begins.

The Indian team members most likely to play in the forthcoming WBBL are Smriti Mandhan, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey, Yastika Bhatia, and Dayalan Hemalatha. Following the WBBL, the India Women are slated to play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against Australia.

India will advance to the Women’s World Cup 2025, regardless of where it is in the points standings.

With 10 victories in 12 games, India Women now hold the 5th position in the ICC Women’s Championship rankings, followed by New Zealand Women.

With six more games played so far, the New Zealand Women are one spot behind the Indians. As the hosts of the world’s largest event the following year, India will always qualify.
