New Zealand has had the chance to play six consecutive subcontinental Test matches: Rachin Ravindra

The first match of India’s three-match Test series versus New Zealand is scheduled on October 16 at Bengaluru’s storied Chinnaswamy Stadium. The New Zealand team will enter the series after a terrible performance against Sri Lanka, while India is coming off a resounding whitewash against Bangladesh. Ahead of the series, Rachin Ravindra, the rising star for the visitors, talked about how playing in India would be different from playing in Lanka.

Ravindra went on to say that the subcontinental conditions present him with a fantastic opportunity to not just record victories but also develop as a player. Ravindra, who has participated in nine Test matches for the Kiwis, has amassed 672 runs at an average of nearly 40. His contribution to the team would be vital in the upcoming Test series.

It would have been a nice little build-up, so it was a little unfortunate not to be able to play in Noida [against Afghanistan].” A New Zealand

team, however, hasn’t had the chance to play six consecutive subcontinent Test matches, in my opinion. Rachin Ravindra stated at the press conference prior to the India Tests, “It’s a fantastic opportunity to not only record wins, but also gain experience and improve as a player and as a group.”

The 24-year-old added that although playing in India and Sri Lanka will be different, he might benefit from the spin-friendly conditions in both nations. New Zealand begins the series in Bengaluru and then moves on to Pune and Mumbai for the second and third Test matches, respectively.

Naturally, Sri Lanka and India have different topographies and climates, but they are comparable in terms of the potential spin. The World Test Championship rankings have demonstrated that Sri Lanka is a good team, particularly under their own circumstances.

We learned a lot and gained a lot of insight from the test, which was excellent for us. “Now, we need to figure out how to get that game to India,” he continued.
