The players on the Central contracts for the 2025–2026 season were recently revealed by New Zealand Cricket (NZC). It features up-and-coming players that haven’t played much at the highest level, like Muhammad Abbas, Mitchell Hay, Adithya Ashok, and Zak Foulkes. Senior players like Trent Boult and Kane Williamson, meanwhile, are still not included in the central contracts.
Key players for the Kiwi team across all formats, including regulars Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Henry Nicholls, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Santner, and Daryl Mitchell, have been included to the central contracts.
Two Test matches against Zimbabwe are on New Zealand’s 2025–26 schedule; these matches will not be included in the WTC 2025–27 schedule. Before Christmas, they will then play the West Indies. The 2025 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka will be New Zealand’s main priority.
The following list demonstrates the breadth and depth of our talent pool: Scott Weenink, the CEO of New Zealand Cricket, discussed the primary contracts for the 2025–26 campaign and highlighted the addition of Abbas, Hay, and Foulkes to the national team. They have the desire to perform for the Blackcaps and are prepared to step up at the top level, he said.
“The amazing potential entering our system is reflected in the contracts with Mitch, Muhammad, Adi, and Zak. These guys have demonstrated their ability to compete at the greatest level, and it’s exciting to see how eager they are to play for the Blackcaps. After the NZC central contracts were announced, Weenink stated, “The list reflects the breadth and depth of our talent pool,” according to ESPNCricinfo.
Congratulations to Muhammad Abbas, Adi Ashok, Zak Foulkes and Mitch Hay who have all accepted their first BLACKCAPS central contracts ✍️
