The first of four overseas teams to compete in the 2025 Top End T20 Series, which will be held in Darwin from August 14 to 24, is Nepal, according to official confirmation.
In order to guarantee one of the three seats left for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka early the following year, Nepal will need to prepare well for the competition. They are scheduled to play at least six Twenty20 matches at three locations—DXC Arena, TIO Stadium, and Cazaly’s Arena—when they get to Darwin in early August.
“We are thrilled and eager to take part in the Top End T20 Series. The Cricket Association of Nepal secretary, Paras Khadka, was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying, “It offers a great opportunity to prepare with strong intent and focused practice ahead of our ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers [to be held in Oman in October].”
“Competing against quality opponents in Australian conditions will provide our players with critical exposure, helping them better understand their game and grow as professional cricketers,” he stated.
Stuart Law, a former batter for Australia, was named head coach of Nepal earlier this year in March.
Under Law’s guidance, the side played in a T20I tri-series against Scotland and the Netherlands in Glasgow, where they placed second.
Nepal will create additional history by playing their first-ever bilateral T20I series against the West Indies following the Top End T20 Series in Darwin. By the end of September, the series is expected to be set in Sharjah.
