Nathan Lyon will play in the Sheffield Shield again before a demanding summer of tests.

Nathan Lyon, who skipped the away game in Hobart due to workload management, is getting ready for the Test season by joining the NSW team against Tasmania at the SCG in the Sheffield Shield.

His return coincides with the intense seven-test summer schedule, which includes a pivotal two-match visit to New Zealand in February and March. His purposeful rest the previous week highlighted the importance of managing a player’s readiness for peak performance.

The experienced off-spinner, who is finishing up his World Cup duties and joining a constellation of stars like Test partners Alex Carey and Cameron Green, will be highlighted in the next Sheffield Shield round. The 36-year-old is making his third appearance in a first-class setting since returning to the field last month. He was sidelined during the first Ashes Tests due to a calf injury. Their presence heightens the anticipation for this round of cricket.

After being left out of Australia’s opening World Cup match and unable to get back into the starting lineup, wicketkeeper-batter Carey will take the field for South Australia on Tuesday at the Adelaide Oval against Victoria. This game is an important warm-up for the upcoming first Test match in Perth against Pakistan, which starts on December 14. This fixture is even more important because of his chance to get important game time prior to the test series.

Cameron Green battling for a spot as Mitchell Marsh prepares to make a comeback in the Tests

With three appearances during the victorious World Cup campaign, Cameron Green earns a spot in the powerful Prime Minister’s XI that will take on Pakistan in Canberra. This choice indicates that West Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is the preferred choice by the selectors to be the No. 6 player in the next Test. Marsh is clearly the front-runner, as indicated by Green’s participation, which makes for an interesting test choice.

Although neither Green nor Marsh will be playing in the T20I series against India, Green says he will play in Western Australia’s Shield match against Queensland at the Gabba starting on November 28. Despite their break from T20Is, their dedication to the Shield fixture and their handling of the burden stand out.
