'Have some kind of consistency'- Nasser Hussain believes Pakistan cannot succeed by using used pitches

Playing on old grounds where their spinners can outperform the opponent will not help Pakistan succeed in the long run, according to Nasser Hussain. At the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan, the second Test match between Pakistan and England was played on the same field as the first. The hosts chose to bat first after winning a crucial toss. Life proved tough for the hitters as the used pitch kept crumbling, and the spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan’s constant pressure was too much for the England batsmen, who had to bat last.

In the end, Pakistan ended an 11-match home winless drought by defeating England by 152 runs after they were bowled for 144 in their second innings. Additionally, this victory assisted Shan Masood and company in bringing the three-match series back to even. As the Pakistani spin combination took advantage of the conditions, Noman and Sajid claimed all 20 English wickets.

“If you are a local in this region of the world, you cannot tell me that last week’s viewership was superior to this week’s, and you cannot tell me that you will come in here in the sweltering heat and see 560 play 800.

Nasser Hussain told Sky Sports at the conclusion of the game, “You’re going to come in and watch your team play and win on a pitch that offers something.”

“Playing cricket on the same surface cannot serve as a model for Pakistan’s future. They must examine their surfaces, though, and if they discover a formula that works, they should stick with it. Remain loyal to this team, this two spinners, the batting order, the captain, and the selectors. Maintain a certain level of consistency. Cricket is required for Pakistan’s Test match this week,” Hussain continued.

Home advantage is something you should have when playing at home: Brendon McCullum

Since he was fine with the home team taking advantage, England’s head coach Brendon McCullum wasn’t too upset about Pakistan using the field again.

Actually, I don’t mind [the pitch]. I enjoy the peculiarity of it. Home advantage is something you should have when playing at home. I suppose they gambled on it after we were able to take a 1-0 lead in the first Test match. “I don’t mind it at all,” McCullum declared following the game.

The third and final Test match, which begins on Thursday, October 24 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, is well-positioned thanks to Pakistan’s triumph.
