The group of foreign players chosen for the SA20 auction includes Pacers Shamar Joseph, Naseem Shah, Josh Little, and Josh Hull. A total of 200 players—115 of them are South Africans—have been selected for the auction.
It is important to note that the Paarl Royals, with R11.95 million to spend at the auction, have the largest purse of all the franchises before the auction. With a purse of R8.275 million, MI Cape Town is right behind them, while Pretoria Capitals comes in second with R4.575 million.
In addition to the foreign pacers, other foreign possibilities that will be up for sale include Martin Guptill, Qais Ahmad, and Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis.
Graeme Smith, the current SA20 commissioner and a former cricket player from South Africa, spoke up and discussed the caliber of players that may compete in the competition.
“Some of the biggest names on the international T20 circuit have already signed up for season 3 and I am looking forward to see how the teams finalise their squads from this competitive auction list of players,” Smith was reported to have said.
It’s important to remember that each franchise must have 19 players before the event begins. Every squad needs to have ten South African players at the very least.
The competition’s auction is scheduled to start on October 1st, and the event will start on January 9th. It’s also important to note that every franchise—aside from the Super Kings—has revealed its wildcard selection. Moreover, Super Kings can lock in their wildcard player until December 30.
Dinesh Karthik, a former cricket player for India, was selected by Paarl Royals as their wildcard selection. Karthik will be the first Indian player to play in the SA20.

Prior to the auction, the teams aim to assemble the strongest rosters and deliver strong performances during the competition to win the championship.
