After the dismissal of Chandika Hathurusingha as head coach, Bangladesh was rocked. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) made the sudden decision based on his assault of a player during the 2023 ODI World Cup and his use of more time off than allowed by the contract.
Bangladesh’s all-format captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, revealed at a pre-match conference prior to the first Test match against South Africa that he was totally unaware of what had happened and hence had nothing specific to say about the comment.
“I have no idea about this claimed assault. When asked about the matter at a news conference on Sunday, Shanto said, “To be honest, I don’t know about this,” as reported by The Daily Star.
Fascinatingly, Nazmul Hossain, the former board president, had publicly declared the charge to be unfounded.
When asked what he would do in the event that a similar occurrence happened again, Najmul Hossain Shanto’s response was very direct.
“Anything like that won’t happen again,” Najmul Hossain Shantosaid in response to the circumstance.
In a previous open letter, Hathurusingha claimed that the accusations of assault were based solely on the YouTuber’s claims and that the circumstances surrounding his termination were enigmatic and unjustified because there was no video proof of the incident or public testimony from the alleged victim.
